As millions of google users collectively work on its programs, it faced a horrendous outage as google services were stopped for almost a couple of hours on Monday 14 December 2020. Through Twitter, google shared the message to all its users worldwide as, ‘Today at 3:47 AM (Pacific time) our system experienced an authentication outage due to which our services shutdown’. This issue was usually resolved earlier; however, it took a few hours to operate all google services such as Gdrive, YouTube, and Gmail.
As the outage took time, the vow of #YouTubeDOWN reached across all the continents. The hashtag was on-trend on Twitter and was peaking for hours as people across the globe were discussing the faults of Google’s Services. Google is the only platform where people can reach through their different operations and share their work through a simple google email address. Some reports say that during this outage, you could use YouTube through the incognito browser.
Additionally, smart home gadgets also faced connection issues due to the unavailability of Google’s services worldwide. In countries such as Sweden, Norway, and Denmark, people faced terrible problems controlling the smart heater. With people sharing their issues, there was also a great vow on what’s going on with the services. As the services are now stable and continued, there are speculations about what happened to Google’s authentication servers. It either steel of information or just a technical teething issue?
